New hue for 2024 Jayco models

Australia’s biggest RV brand is ‘going green’, with new olive exterior rolled out to more model families across the Jayco range

Jayco has extended the new olive green colour scheme first shown at Melbourne’s Leisurefest show in October. There the trendy 'camo' hue appeared for the first time in its new CrossTrak hybrid and Outback-themed camper trailers, but now the new look also encompasses the brand’s All-Terrain off-grid and BaseStation toy-hauler families.

Green scene

Unveiled on February 21 at the opening of the 2024 Victorian Caravan & Camper Supershow, there was a sea of green around much of the Jayco stand, with the colour contrasting with the traditional grey or white exterior schemes of some of its other model families, like StarCraft and Silverline.

“Historically we’ve been grey for a very long time, and what we wanted to do was offer something a little bit different, something that stands out, but also something that looks a little bit more aggressive for our adventure market,” said Jayco’s National Sales Manager, Scott Jones.

“Our research was telling us that people wanted something a little bit bolder, something that moved away from grey which was becoming the norm. You have a choice of a couple of internal colours, but we put it to some of our dealers, our dealer advisory panel, and it was decided that green was the way to go [for the exterior colour].”

The colour is now the sole choice for BaseStation, CrossTrack, All-Terrain and Outback camper trailers (available in Swift, Lark, Wren, Eagle, Swan, and Penguin models), while Touring-spec campers will remain with Jayco’s grey scheme.

The colour first appeared on a Jayco CrossTrak and Outback camper at Melbourne's Leisurefest last year

Bigger BaseStation

Other changes to the 2024 Jayco lineup include the BaseStation toy hauler, which has moved from having a fold-out front bed to a fully integrated east-west bed, along with an increase in length in the two sizes in which it is available.

The BaseStation is now available in two longer formats

“The original BaseStation has been a staple for us for around 15 years and it hasn’t really changed in that time,” said Mr Jones.

“It has had a front fold-down bed and some of the customer feedback we’d been getting was that some people wanted to move away from the canvas bed setup, so we came up with the east-west bed module, and what we wanted to do was to make it a little bit easier for people to get in or out.

The BaseStation's forward fold-down bed has made way for an integrated east-west bed

“It’s available in two sizes – we always had a 17ft and a 23ft, but now it’s going to be available in 19ft and 24ft, so a little bit bigger but you’ve got that east-west bed in there.

Jayco says access to the new east-bed is better than in the previous model

“The main focus for us was to make the bed accessible – some of the feedback on the bed in the previous BaseStation was that people had to climb over one another, whereas in this one people now have the option to shimmy around a bit better.

Spacious lounge and well-appointed kitchen

“But you’ve got all the BaseStation classics, so a big club lounge, a big shower/toilet combo, and of course the big rear garage.”

Plenty of room for all the toys...

Entry-level appeal

Other updates to the 2024 Jayco range include new sharp pricing (circa $45k) on the brand’s entry-level StarCraft pop-top and the appearance of a new 17ft single-axle StarCraft caravan, which boasts a large rear ensuite (below) and a 600kg payload, for just under $60k.
