Major Queensland Jayco dealership, Brisbane Camperland has created what may become the template for the RV 'dealership of the future' with a major redevelopment of its well-known Tingalpa site.
Rather than sitting on unfriendly concrete, the dealership now has key models of the current Jayco camper trailer, pop-top, expander and caravan ranges displayed on a new artificial grass and palm-tree fringed forecourt, with the dealership’s former sales office demolished and relocated in the process.
The airy new sales office has been relocated behind the lifestyle display in a major makeover of the former spare parts centre, which in turn has now been relocated into a brand-new space in the adjoining dedicated Jayco Motorhome dealership, completed in 2018.
The ‘lifestyle’ makeover is a Brisbane Camperland initiative that has been welcomed by Jayco Australia and could influence the design of future Jayco and other RV dealerships.
It was an in-house concept, but an Australian design company was engaged to give it the right feel, explained Brisbane Camperland Managing Director, Josh Carnavas.
“We wanted to create a holiday themed atmosphere for people shopping for their new holiday vehicle," he told caravancampingsales.
“It’s hard for many people who have not already enjoyed the outdoor camping and caravanning lifestyle to imagine themselves disconnected from their homes and everyday lives and with our display area they can inspect the different Jayco models in a relaxed, outdoor setting and more easily imagine themselves in that situation,” he said.
The full redevelopment of the Brisbane Camperland site is still a ‘work in progress’ over the dealership’s three sites, with completion still some weeks away.
The transformation of the dealership, whose origins date back to 1981 when it was located originally beneath the 'Big Boot' at Chermside, is another milestone in its history, following the dealership's previous redevelopment in the mid-2000s.
