Video: Caravan crashes into truck on Bruce Highway

Another terrifying caravan crash on notorious Queensland highway

Queensland's Maryborough Police has released frightening footage of how quickly things can change on our roads, releasing a video of a caravanner smashing into a truck on the notorious Bruce Highway this week.

The alarming dash cam footage shows a dual-cab ute towing a Jayco Journey tandem axle caravan cruising along in the left lane, before swerving into the right hand lane and into the path of a large truck.

The accident occurred on the Gunalda Range on late Wednesday afternoon (May 20), at about 4.40pm in dark, wet and slippery conditions, and the tow vehicle doesn't appear to have its right indicator lights flashing before it changed lanes.

Another nasty caravan crash on the Bruce Highway

Clayton's Towing, which recovered the caravan and tow vehicle, suggested on social media that the  "dash cam footage was (also) able to help answer the question if the truck clipped the rear of the van first putting them out of control, as the vehicle occupants thought may have happened."

The driver and passenger of the vehicle towing the caravan were reportedly not seriously hurt during the incident.

Queensland police is continuing its investigations, and are reminding those travelling with the easing of restrictions to take extra care on the roads.
