It would hardly be a caravan supershow without some new models, or new variants of existing models, from the top-selling Jayco brand.
And the Dandenong, Victoria-based RV manufacturing giant didn’t disappoint at this year’s Queensland Caravan Supershow, unveiling at least three fresh models for the 50th anniversary show.
Loosely based on the JPod mini-caravan, the new 10ft 10.35-1 Work N Play model is Jayco’s smallest toy hauler and described by the company as “part caravan, part mobile garage”.
Just over five metres long in total, 2.4m high and 2.12m wide, the baby toy hauler boasts a Tare weight of 1011kg, an unloaded ball weight of 125kg and up to 500kg payload.
The fibreglass-bodied camper rides on a galvanized chassis, with leaf spring suspension, 50mm ball hitch, and a 9kg gas bottle, mains tap and tool box mounted on the A-frame.
Other features includes a slide-out kitchen with sink and mixer tap and provision for a portable BBQ, 2.5m Bushranger awning, 100kg rated roof racks, spare alloy wheel, 45 litre water tank and 100Ah battery.
Inside space measures 3.113m long and 1.521m high, with storage option right across the front as well as under the two bench seats, and a double bed with canvas protection folding out to one side.
There’s enough space to run a small Honda quad bike up the Raptor-coated drop-down ramp between the two bench seats, with nine tie down points to secure items.
The compact, multi-purpose trailer had drive-away pricing of $29,890.
Cut-price family Freedom
Also on display at the Queensland Supershow was a new addition to Jayco’s new entry level Freedom pop-top range, the single axle 16ft 15.48-6.
The aluminium clad, 1317kg Tare weight pop-top is priced from $27,990, but fitted with Comfort and Bush packs pushed the show van’s pricing to $34,080 drive-away.
For that, you get all the essential family caravanning requirements except for a bathroom, including a front east-west double bed, kitchen, L-shaped lounge/dinette, and two rear bunk beds.
Jayco also had on display a new 19ft slide-out model to boost its range-topping Silverline caravan range.
The 19.61-5 Outback Silverline on display featured a spacious layout including large front kitchen, L-shaped lounge/dinette, slide-out queen bed and full width rear ensuite.
The 2510kg Tare show van was fitted with a bonus satellite dish for a tempting drive-away price of $73,590.
