Sydney’s Suncamper has pulled the wraps off one of its most glamorous and expensive motorhomes to date.
Revealed at the 2019 Caravan Camping and Holiday Supershow at Rosehill in Sydney, the new 8.6m (28ft) long Santa Cruz is based on the 4495kg GVM Iveco Daily, although buyers can opt for a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter platform if they prefer.
Priced at $295,000 before on-road costs, the new Santa Cruz is expensive for a motorhome without any slide-outs, but the standard equipment list is extensive and interior finish a step above most Aussie-built RVs.
Externally, there’s a large outside kitchen with cooktop, sink and drawer fridge, as well as lockers for a generator and external shower. There’s also two 4kg gas bottles, a powered awning, 320W roof-mounted solar system to top up the two house batteries, and 130 litre fresh water and 86 litre grey water tanks.
However, step inside and the ‘wow’ factor really lifts, with all the features expected in a large luxury motorhome plus a few you don’t often see, including an in-built dishwasher, back-lit shower and wine glass cabinet, and auto-lifting coffee machine.
Adopting the latest domestic design trends, the Santa Cruz’s interior also impresses with a Euro-style furniture design including curved cabinetry and self-locking drawers, latest tapware, LED mood lighting and a subway tiled rear bathroom with bespoke shower and multi-function sliding privacy doors, plus a wall-mounted washing machine (not fitted on the display model).
The Santa Cruz also heads upmarket with a two-tone leather dinette and separate lounge, large L-shaped kitchen with stainless sink, four-burner cooktop, oven/grille and 175 litre fridge/freezer, and a walk-around east-west queen bed with mirrored bedhead and plenty of storage. There are also enough TVs for both inside and outside viewing.
Suncamper general manager Cameron Harrison said the Santa Cruz motorhome at the Supershow was specially designed as a personal touring vehicle for his father and Suncamper founder Keith Harrison, but he said the stylish interior and long list of features should also make it appeal to discerning buyers.
