One of Australia's biggest RV importers is stepping up its American market presence, with MDC USA announcing the release of its most off-grid capable and luxurious off-road caravan to date.
The new XT22HRT Off-Grid Extreme tandem axle 'travel trailer' is the ninth and largest MDC USA model launched by the Brisbane-based Market Direct Group in the 'States since 2021.

The 22ft flagship model is designed to deliver more "more space, capability and comfort" than MDC USA's previous range-topper, the XT19HRT Off-grid Extreme, launched in 2024.
It comes with a number of MDC USA 'firsts', including a Gold Class-like external integrated Entertainment Hub, that's located next to the external kitchen and features a Jensen 43-inch smart TV, Dometic 60L compressor fridge, Fusion marine stereo with six-inch speakers, phone charging dock, HDMI connectivity and 12V LED and mood lighting.
It also gets a 12V Renogy 1500Ah lithium battery system with dual 3000W inverters, a Renogy ONE Core touchscreen, and 1400W rooftop solar that's expandable to 2000W via three dedicated portable solar inputs.

Also part of the deluxe package is 93 gallons (352L) fresh water and 31 gallon (117L) grey water capacity, and dual-zone heating and cooling, thanks to dual Truma Aventa Eco rooftop air-conditioners and two Truma VarioHeat furnaces, or space heaters.
Also standard is a Truma AquaGo water heater, 283L Norcold 12V compressor fridge, Furrion cooking appliances, a Fusion audio system, and another two TVs inside.

A Tare of approximately 3600kg, and 4500kg ATM delivers a payload of around 900kg. Like all MDG products the 22ft Extreme is largely built in China, although there are some nice down-under touches like the Queensland-made Cruisemaster DO-45 coupling.
MDC is also offering for the first time to American buyers, an apartment-style layout with three distinct interior living zones, including a rear club lounge, central ensuite and front master bedroom.
The icing on the cake is the fitment of a snow camping pack, including water tank heating pads, insulated water lines, and a wet bay with interior space heating -- perfect for a spot of frozen-lake fishing...

Best known in Australia for its MDC campers, caravans and hybrids, and more recently the upmarket Gold Class brand, the Market Direct Group set up its California-based MDC USA arm around five years ago, and it now has 10 dealers selling nine different models across North America.
The new XT22HRT Off-Grid Extreme is expected to roll out to MDC USA dealers in early 2027.
There's no announcement of pricing yet but it's likely to cost significantly more than the current range-topping 19ft XT19HRT, that starts at USD$125,990 (about AUD$180K).
