All-new Traveller Destination composite caravans arrive

Melbourne's fast-growing JB Group is releasing a new entry-level range of locally-built, full composite caravans, under the Traveller Caravans brand it acquired in late-2023.

Set to replace existing timber-framed Traveller models and launching with a competitive starting price of under $60,000, the new eight-variant Traveller Destination range includes both single- and tandem axle configurations and on-road and semi off-road variants.

There are four body lengths available, ranging from 13ft to 20ft, and a variety of couple's ensuite layouts.

The 'timber-free' body construction is similar to JB's Gator range, including fibreglass sandwich panels (25mm thick for the walls and 35mm for the roof) supplied by Queensland's Link Composites, along with a honeycomb composite floor. The body sits on an AL-KO chassis made from BlueScope steel.

All Traveller Destination vans (except the entry-level 13 footer with its combo ensuite) get a full width bathroom with solid sliding door and a separate shower and toilet, to go with a kitchen and dinette, and either twin single beds, an east-west double bed or island queen bed.

Pricing (RRP) starts at $57,990 for the on-road Destination Cruise variants, which come fitted with a 50mm ball coupling, leaf spring suspension, 16in alloy wheels and all-terrain tyres, together with twin 9kg gas bottles, a 125Ah lithium battery and 200W rooftop solar panel, and a 110 litre fresh water tank.

Priced from $64,990, the four Destination Track vans come better equipped for off-road travel with AL-KO Enduro X coil suspension and a Cruisemaster DO-35 coupling, A-frame utility box, a 110L grey as well as 110L fresh water tank, along with two 125Ah lithium batteries and twin 200W rooftop solar panels.

Other external highlights standard across the new Traveller composite range include a reverse camera, gas bayonet, roll-out awning, A-frame tap and mains pressure filler, and a twin-burner portable cooker.

Standard interior features across the range include a 200L fridge/freezer, 3.5kW roof-top air-conditioner, 3+1 cooktop and grille, flatbed microwave, rangehood, multimedia audio system with inside and outside speakers, an instant gas hot water system, filtered water tap, 24in Smart TV, cassette ceramic bowl toilet and a 950mm wide shower cubicle.

There are also plenty of modern touches throughout, including wireless charging pads, soft-close cabinetry, LED mood lighting, black tapware, and an innerspring bed mattress.

Options include a 3kg wall mounted washing machine and an external hot-cold shower.

All Traveller Destination vans are 2.5m wide and 3.1m high, and have an internal height of 2.03m. They all promise relatively easy towing, with Tare weights ranging from 1760kg to 2320kg, and ATM weights from 2260kg to 3020kg, depending on the variant. Payloads are between 500kg and 700kg.

The new Traveller Destination full composite vans are built in the New Age Caravans factory in Epping, Victoria, which the JB Group took ownership of recently, and the vans are currently available at seven dealerships around Australia including the new flagship JB Pakenham outlet in Victoria.

Four Traveller Destination vans are on display at the 2025 NSW Caravan Camping Holiday Supershow, at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse (April 29 - May 4). There's also a new Traveller Caravans website that includes 3D walk-throughs of all the layouts.
