Melbourne's New Age Caravans has ripped the covers off its first touring motorhome, which is now on sale and on display at eight New Age dealers around the country.
The 15-year-old caravan manufacturer was recently taken over by Melbourne's JB Caravans, so it's no surprise the first New Age-badged motorhome to hit the dealer yards has a lot in common with the JB Touring motorhome launched in late-2023.
Like the JB model, the New Age NAM8 motorhome is a 7.9m long, 2.4m wide and 3.2m high, luxury on-road couple's ensuite model, built on a rear-wheel drive Iveco Daily 50 180 cab-chassis. It's powered by a 132kw/430Nm 3.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine with eight-speed automatic transmission, and rated to a standard, car licence-friendly GVM of 4495kg that's upgradeable to 5200kg.
It also benefits from a slick, full composite fibreglass construction including one piece panels for the floor, walls and roof, smooth convex roof profile, fully moulded external storage lockers and an integrated roll-over protection system.
For off-grid camping the New Age motorhome comes standard with a 48V EcoFlow setup including two 2kW lithium batteries delivering 333Ah (expandable up to 15kW), a 3600W inverter, 600W rooftop solar and EcoFlow touchscreen interface and accompanying smartphone app. There's also 200 litres (fresh) and 75 litres (grey) on-board water storage.
The internal floorplan and fit-out in the New Age NAM8 also closely resembles the JB motorhome's, with a range of kitchen appliances that include a twin hob induction cooker, 25L microwave, water filter, rangehood and 224L compressor fridge/freezer. However, one cosmetic difference is new European-style CNC furniture incorporating angled overhead cupboards fitted inside the New Age motorhome.
The walk-around east-west queen bed gets a pillowtop mattress and large underbed storage cavity, while the spacious rear ensuite incorporates a large (900mm x 750mm) shower cubicle, cassette toilet, vanity and 3.2kg top load washing machine.
Buyers also have the choice of an optional twin single bed layout, as well as a front dinette/lounge area with either cafe-style or single bench seat arrangement.
Other standard internal features include a rooftop air-conditioner, two rain sensor roof hatches, three Sirocco fans, LED lighting, and gas instant hot water, while externally there's a powered-assisted awning and electric entry steps, a large picnic table, two 4kg gas bottles and a gas bayonet, a TV hatch, three awning lights, and a wireless rear camera.
Entertainment-wise, the New Age motorhome comes standard with two 24in Smart TVs and an audio system with six speakers (four internal, two external).
As an upmarket model the New Age NAM8 comes loaded up with premium features including genuine leather seating, sound-isolating felt-backed vinyl flooring, a multi-locking cabinetry system including friction hinges, a compression-style entry door, waterfall benchtops and a granite black kitchen sink. New Age says it plans to add a few more "fantastic features" to the range in 2025.
Pricing starts at $240,000 (RRP driveaway) for the standard queen bed layout, with the twin single layout adding $5000 to the price. There are a few examples currently available for immediate delivery; otherwise buyers can expect a two to three months' wait from the time of order.
