ZoneRV unveils compact family off-roader

Remote-area comfort for cashed-up families

Specialist high-tech timberless caravan builder ZoneRV has introduced a new compact off-road model designed for adventures, cashed-up couples and their kids.

Available to order now and with deliveries commencing early 2018, the new ZF-18.6 joins the current ZoneRV range of off-road, on-road and family vans that has now grown to 11 separate models in less than three years following the recent announcement of the new three-model Venture on-road range.

As its name suggests, the ZF-18.6 is an 18ft 6in caravan with all the customary ZoneRV off-road features.
These features included a 50mm higher off-road galvanised steel chassis, 12-inch AL-KO electric drum brakes, tandem Cruisemaster XT off-road coil-spring suspension, Raptor protective stone-coating for vulnerable body areas, 16 x 8in alloy wheels with Land Cruiser size 265/75-16 off-road tyres, a standard 200Ah Enerdrive lithium battery, 400W of flexible solar panels on the roof, 200 litres of fresh water capacity in two tanks and a 100 litres grey-water tank.
That's all pretty much de rigeur for ZoneRV's off-road models, but what makes the new kid on the family RV block news is its layout. ZoneRV has managed to fit a queen-size bed, twin bunks, a good-sized lounge and kitchen and a separate shower, toilet, vanity bathroom into 18ft 6in, whereas most family vans of this size can only find room for a combined shower/toilet ensuite.
ZoneRV's packaging trick is to turn the queen bed sideways in the van's nose, fit a space-efficient L-shaped leather lounge and put the bathroom's wet areas across one rear wall (sharing plumbing connections with the adjacent kitchen), while locating the twin double-stacked bunks on the other rear wall.
Like all ZoneRV caravans, the 18.6 Family Off-Roader isn't cheap at a starting price of $117,900.
Add a few popular options like Vehicle Components ATX air suspension, Enerdrive's 2000W Combi inverter/charger, a diesel space heater, perhaps a third bunk and maybe a pillow-top mattress and it would be easy to bump the price beyond $130,000.
However, in return you'll get a beautifully finished and super-tough off-road caravan, employing advanced building techniques such as a timberless construction, pre-formed composite wall, floor and roof panels, automotive-style wiring and an advanced modular cabinet construction.
So, if you plan on embarking on a family adventure, start saving!
