Zone launches lightweight ute canopies

After years of testing, trialling and teasing, Queensland caravan manufacturer Zone RV has officially launched a new range of lightweight ute canopies under its latest Mode 4x4 Accessories sub-brand.

Promoted as "the lightest 4x4 canopy on the market", the Mode 4x4 ute canopies are built from composite materials as well as aluminium and come standard with a dual (left and right) undermount tool box, dual whale tail latches on each of the two gullwing side doors, and dual rear tail lights. 

Mode 4x4 canopy weighs 220kg and is priced from $16,500

Options include a rear-mounted spare wheel carrier, dual-mounted spare wheel carrier, a rear ladder (not available with two spare wheels), parking sensor integration, and electronically controlled central locking.

Like Zone RV caravans, the Mode 4x4 canopies use thick composite walls that help to reduce overall weight as well as provide better insulation, with alloy mounting points at the rear for carrying a wheel carrier or ladder.

They're currently available to fit Mazda BT-50, Isuzu D-MAX, Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux and LandCruiser 79 vehicles, and are also compatible with factory blind-monitoring systems for the tail lights of Ranger and HiLux utes.

The Mode 4x4 canopies are also compatible with most roof rack makes and models, and the canopies are rated to carry up to 350kg internally, and have a static roof weight of up to 350kg and a dynamic roof weight of up to 150kg depending on fit-out. Canopy dry weight is 220kg.

Pricing starts at $16,500 and they're currently available at four retail outlets in NSW and Queensland. More details at the Mode 4x4 website.
