You know campervans are 'cool' when one is competing for top show vehicle at the biggest aftermarket accessories and hot rodding event in the world, SEMA in Las Vegas.
This particularly striking, low-riding motor-camper started life as a humble 1986 Chevrolet C20 campervan with fixed camper body, but as you can see from the 'Before and after' photos there's not a lot left of the original.
The extensive custom and fabrication work completed by River City Rods & Fabrication in Davenport, Iowa, included stripping the old camper body and replacing it with a new 11ft custom in-bed camper.
The aim of the striped 'Desert Fox' retro paint scheme was to deliver a "retro but earthy' look, according to River City Rods & Fabrication owner Craig Piggott, and the wow factor continues inside with a dark wood cabin theme accentuated by lots of smooth and textured timber surfaces.
Other interior highlights include what looks like a red velvet headliner, Coca-Cola sink, microwave, bespoke 'Kicker' stereo and fold-up TV, along with matching tartan upholstery for the front seats.
The 'Pimp My Ride' camper, nicknamed Brown Sugar gets its tarmac-scraping stance courtesy of height-adjustable Air Ride suspension. It's competing for the top prize against 40 other finalists in the prestigious 'Battle of the Builders' competition at SEMA.
