A German company is trying to entice 'minimalist' campers and digital nomads with the release of a new all-in-one electric pushbike camper.
Based on the battery-powered Riese&Müller Load75 cargo bike, the new SpaceCamper e-bike is designed to offer the ultimate wind in the hair "holiday on wheels" and incorporates storage space, a reclining seat that doubles as a built-in bed, a table and a tarp-like structure for protection from the elements.

SpaceCamper says the camping bike is designed for "people who like to go camping but don't want to unroll their sleeping pad on uneven or even wet ground. For working or eating, a table top is mounted above the folded handlebar".
Set-up time is around five minutes, including mounting the supplied tabletop and setting up the tarp.
"The supplied tent roof can be mounted so that you don't get wet while sleeping or working... This tarp and its rods are mounted directly on the bike – without pegs and tensioning ropes – and do not extend to the ground. This drastically reduces the management times for assembly and dismantling," the German company says.

As for the bike itself, it boasts full suspension and a mid-mounted Bosch motor powered by a 1000Wh battery. Optional extras include mountain bike tyres, an electronic 14-speed Rohloff gear selector and ABS brakes.
The SpaceCamper is expected to go on sale around mid-2023 in Europe. No word on pricing but it won't be cheap, with the basic 37kg-plus, Load75 cargo bike alone retailing for around $12,000 in Australia.
