The world's biggest and arguably best caravan show has gone ahead despite the coronavirus crisis.
While crowds and exhibitor numbers are down on previous years, the annual Caravan Salon kicked off on September 4 in Dusseldorf Germany, with organisers reporting 65,000 attendees through the turnstiles during the first six days of the show.
The international trade fair runs September 4-13 and features 350 exhibitors spread over 10 exhibition halls.
To restrict the spread of coronavirus, organisers implemented a number of 'protection' practices for the show including online only ticket sales, social distancing, mask wearing, and "seamless contact tracking".
From a peak of more than 6000 daily coronavirus cases in March/April, Germany is currently faring better than many other European countries with daily cases down to less than 2000 per day in early September.
Judging by the photos, the 2020 Caravan Salon offers a diverse mix of cutting-edge and mostly full composite build caravans and motorhomes, from quirky concepts and 'caraboats', to multi-million dollar expedition vehicles and sports car-carrying A-class mega-luxury motorhomes.
Apart from a few Adria models, and the odd lightweight caravan and big buck motorhome, most of the models on display are not currently available in Australia, with less demand in recent years down under for smaller and lighter weight British and Euro-built composite caravans.
