The Queensland inventor of the world’s “smartest camping chair” has hit a stumbling block after failing to raise sufficient funds to put her innovative all-in-one folding chair into production.
The Hub chair, which was priced between $159 and $290 depending on what accessories were fitted, takes the humble folding camp chair and turns it into a technology basestation “that lights up, charges your devices and plays your tunes”.
“I’ve tried it all but I really do like comfortable camping,” Frost says in the Hub promotional video, below. “I was literally sitting on the idea… everyone has a camping chair, but how could that honestly be improved?”
Some of the features of the chair, apart from providing a spot to rest your weary legs, include a fold down table with multiple positions and five control switches, built-in bluetooth speakers that are both water and dust proof, a built in powerbank to charge portable electronic devices, fast-charging solar panel, detachable flashlight, handy storage pannier at the back and an easy access cooler bag.
The chair also comes with detachable wheels so that it can be converted into a trolley to cart your gear.
While aimed more at car campers with limited storage space than RV travellers, we still like the idea of an ‘all-in-one’ camp chair, even if it does weigh 8kg with all the accessories.
Frost is still promoting the Hub chair on her Facebook page so if you’re keen to follow its progress, click here.
