World’s greenest motorhome?

European manufacturer unveils concept motorhome made out of eco-friendly basalt fibre walls

European motorhome brand Roller Team has displayed its vision of the motorhome of the future at this year’s Caravan Salon trade show in Germany.

While looking a lot like a conventional Fiat-based camper, the Triaca Concept 230 is built using a range of environmentally-friendly construction materials.

These include walls made from recyclable volcanic-based basalt fibre, which are a cheaper, ‘greener’ alternative to carbon fibre, and benchtops and surfaces constructed from acrylic polymer-based Pral, an easy-to-repair, anti-bacterial material.

Interior fabrics are made from recycled and vegetable-based materials.

The Italian-designed, four-berth motorhome also takes remote control technology to a new level, with push-button operation of the electrically-operated concertina roof extension, telescopic sliding track dining table, and swivelling front seats.

Among other clever design touches are integrated removable benches for indoor or outdoor use.

In case you were wondering, Triaca stands for 'Tecnologia per Ridurre l'Impatto Ambientale in Camper', which in English is something like 'Technology for Environmental Impact Reduction in Motorhomes'.
