How long does it take to set up the bedding and wrap-around awning on your off-road camper trailer? Ten minutes? Five minutes? Half an hour?
How about setting up in less than one minute, or 57 seconds to be exact, if you believe the claims of Queensland-based Conqueror Australia and their latest, compact and lightweight, power assisted UEV 310 Lightning off-road camper trailer.
Promoted as "the world's fastest camper trailer to set up", the new model is fitted with an electric-operated rooftop tent and easy fold-out batwing awning from fellow South African manufacturer Bundutec, with push buttons on the side for raising the roof and access to the bed at the rear via a separate ladder.
The 2.0m x 2.0m double bed area includes a 100mm thick high density foam mattress and interior light, and is secured in a hard case.
Despite weighing just 750kg (Tare) and measuring 3.7m long (overall) by 1.83m wide, the 310 Lightning packs a real punch, with a 90 litre water tank, dual 100Ah battery system, external kitchen with portable cooker and gas hot water unit servicing both the external shower and kitchen fitted as standard.
Sharing similar dimensions to the pint-sized, go-anywhere Patriot X1, the 310 Lightning also comes with a DO35 coupling, Al-Ko rubber torsion suspension and 10in off-road electric brakes.
The 90 litre slide-out fridge, dual 2kg gas bottles, and BBQ grill fitted to the display model at this year's NSW Caravan Supershow are optional extras.
With a payload of 700kg, there are plenty of storage options including a large space under the bed, a front nosecone and two, big slide-out drawers at the rear that include plastic storage boxes.
The show model was priced from $29,990 drive-away, which also included a free 100W roof-mounted solar panel.
Meanwhile, Conqueror Australia hasn’t yet uploaded a video of the entire “57 second” set-up, just the electric roof-top tent in action (see below), so we’ll have to take their word for it until we get a chance to test the claim ourselves…
