Work and play campervan concept revealed

Turn an empty commercial van into a fully-equipped campervan in minutes

Slide-on campers that quickly convert tradie utes to live-in holiday vehicles have been around for a while, but now there's the possibility of a similar work n' play option for commercial vans.

Unveiled at this year's Caravan Salon by German RV materials specialist Vöhringer, the 2021 Vöhringer ConceptCamper is based on a 6.0m long Fiat Ducato but the design could be adapted for other commercial van models.

Vöhringer said a number of removable, lightweight modular furniture units attach to sandwich composite flooring inside the van via integrated rails, turning an empty delivery van into a fully equipped campervan in just a few minutes.

The modular furniture includes a 'plug and play' kitchen with sink, cooktop and fridge, a 'wet' bathroom with toilet and shower, a small dinette, plus a couple of 2.0m long beds that fold up along the side walls to free up space when travelling.

Vöhringer said the ConceptCamper design is perfect for these troubled COVID-19 times, where more people are looking to self-isolate and escape on self-drive holidays, or work remotely in a multi-function mobile work-station.
