Wonderland RV is the latest Aussie caravan manufacturer to release a frameless, full composite sandwich panel caravan.
The boutique Melbourne manufacturer best known for its big luxurious models, displayed two glossy white and black, feature-packed off-road examples of its new Solara Composite Series model at the 2026 Geelong Outdoor Living Caravan Expo.

Wonderland usually builds its caravans with a ply or aluminium frame and aluminium or fibreglass composite panels, but the new Solara model gets standalone 35mm thick fibreglass sandwich panels for the walls and one-piece roof, together with a honeycomb floor.
The fibreglass skinned panels with extruded polystyrene (XPS) foam core, are supplied by Melbourne's Creative Composites which also manufactures body panels for a number of other Melbourne caravan brands including Crusader and Nova.
For the panel joins, Wonderland uses a Truline (J-mould) mould with rubber insert, finished off with aluminum roof cap edging.

While requiring a different manufacturing process and adding to the cost of the 'van, the advantages of composite panels are that they are light and strong with good sound and thermal insulation properties, while the use of the one-piece panels reduces joins and potential leak points.
Solara buyers have the choice of a hot dipped galvanised chassis or a steel chassis protected by a textured 2K PU black coating.

Pricing for the new Wonderland Solara model starts at $158,318, and there are nine floorplans available, ranging from 18ft to 22ft (body length) and with both couple and family bunk bed layouts.
Both Wonderland Solara displays vans were loaded up with premium off-road, off-grid and on-board appliances, including top-spec Cruisemaster airbag suspension, a 400Ah lithium/1000W solar battery system with Victron electricals, and air-conditioning and diesel heating.

The 1806 Solara couple's van on display was priced at $162,868.43, with the 2100 family bunk 'van advertised at $186,338.34. The 1806 Solara had a plated Tare weight of 2780kg and 3495kg ATM, while the Solara 2100 had a Tare of 3000kg and can be delivered with an ATM rating of up to 4500kg.
