The Spirit of Tasmania ferry service is reducing the cost of transporting your caravan or motorhome between the mainland and Australia's island state and back by around $100.
The only catch is you have to take your touring holiday to the Apple Isle in the coldest part of the year, so you’ll need to pack a few extra woolly jumpers and scarves.
Or ditch the beanie for a sun hat, in the case of Tasmanians heading north to warmer states during the chilly southern winter.
The offer is available on selected sailings between May 10 and September 14, 2014 and only applies to those taking over a caravan, campervan or motorhome.
The cost of travelling in an Ocean Recliner is reduced from $99 to $49 per person each way, or from $165 to $115 in a more comfortable, inside twin cabin with private ensuite.
The State-owned ferry service has sweetened the deal by making the fares fully flexible, which means there are no amendment or cancellation fees if you change your booking.
However, the additional cost of transporting your vehicle is unchanged. So, for example, an 8.0m long motorhome travelling during June, will cost approximately $180 each way. Or, a tow vehicle and caravan over 2.1m high, measuring 12.5m long in total, around $550 each way.
The offer is only available on new bookings and ends January 31, 2014 unless sold out. Click here to make a booking.
