Buyers can now get their hands on a new, self-contained van-based camper from the Apollo Group.
The latest 6.0m long Windsor Otway campervan joins the three Windsor motorhomes released in 2020 and, like two of its larger siblings, is based on a Fiat Ducato commercial vehicle with a 119kW/400Nm 2.3-litre turbo-diesel engine and nine-speed automatic transmission.
Inside, the high-roof compact campervan comes standard with swiveling front seats, a two-seat front dinette, kitchenette, combination shower and toilet, and a rear seating and storage area that converts to a double bed.
The two-berth Otway is fitted with four seat belts in total, and two child restraint anchor points so it can double as family transport as well as a holiday tourer.
Other standard features include 110 litre fresh and 55 litre grey water tanks and a gas/electric hot water unit, a 100Ah AGM battery with 190W solar panel, battery charger and touchscreen monitor, audio and TV entertainment, and plenty of internal storage options.
The standard package also includes a roll-out awning, 4.5kg gas bottle, and rooftop air-conditioner, with side entry fly screens, a gas bayonet, diesel heater and a lithium battery upgrade among the list of optional extras.
The kitchen comes equipped with a twin gas burner cooktop with glass lid, and a stainless sink with flick mixer and filtered taps, a microwave and a 109 litre compressor fridge/freezer, with a cassette toilet and flexible shower hose in the fully enclosed ensuite.
The 2.77m high and 2.05m wide campervan has a GVM of 4250kg to deliver a payload of 659kg.
The good news for campervan buyers is Otway display models will be on-site for viewing at all Apollo RV outlets around Australia before the end of this month, with some stock available for delivery before Christmas.
Not so good news is that the stylish new, entry-level Windsor motorhome is currently priced at $148,690 drive-away, or around $40,000 more than when first details of the new Otway model surfaced in early-2020.
The Brisbane-built Otway camper is not the only Windsor model to suffer from COVID-related 'sticker shock', with the Renault Master-based Windsor Daintree motorhome currently priced at $164,900, compared to $105,990 in early-2020.
