Talvor vans for Qld supershow, Waeco's $100,000 giveaway, Great Apollo road trip, Spanish awnings Down Under...

NEW TALVOR VANS FOR QLD SHOW

The sleek new range of family-friendly caravans from Talvor will be among the many attractions at next month’s Queensland Caravan, Camping and Holiday Show.

Bristling with innovations including a unique electric bed lift system, the new Talvor caravan range will be on display at the Kratzmann Caravans stand at the show, to be held at Brisbane’s RNA Showgrounds from June 8 to 14.

With around 300 exhibitors displaying products and services across 60,000 square metres of display area, showgoers will get the chance to see the latest and greatest including the new A-Class luxury motorhome from Aquarius Motorhomes, the unusual Boat A Home trailerable houseboat, and the new Chinese-built vans from Queensland's Exclusive Caravans.

As Queensland’s biggest RV show and now in its 43rd year, it’s expected to attract around 80,000 people through the turnstiles over the seven days.

WAECO’S $100,000 GIVEWAY

RV refrigeration specialist Waeco is giving away more than $100,000 in prizes as part of a special winter promotion.

Up for grabs is a Toyota Kluger equipped with Waeco products, valued at $46,000. Waeco is also giving away three monthly prizes of an Horizon boat package fitted with Dometic-Waeco products, valued at $20,000 each.

To enter the competition, you have to purchase a Waeco CoolFreeze CF VER.B portable fridge/freezer, which is available in 7 models from 31 litre to 106 litre units.

Waeco is also giving away a free insulating protective cover with every CoolFreeze purchase, and has reduced prices by up to $150 on all CoolFreeze models for the duration of the promotion, which runs until August 31.

Entry forms and terms and conditions see the Dometic-Waeco website.

THE GREAT APOLLO ROAD TRIP

Apollo Motorhomes is providing a helping hand to the parents of Queensland Tourism’s Best Job in the World winner, Ben Southall.

Southall’s parents, Margaret and Duncan Southall, have flown over from the UK to drive an Apollo Euro Tourer campervan on a touring holiday through Queensland. At the same time their son Ben will paddle, pedal and kayak as he retraces the 1600km route taken by English adventurer and seafarer Captain James Cook.

Queensland-based Apollo Motorhomes, one of the world’s largest privately owned recreational vehicle operators, is a sponsor of The Best Expedition in the World, the latest chapter of Tourism Queensland’s Best Job in the World campaign which aims to promote the islands of the Great Barrier Reef to overseas tourists.

STARCRAFT SAFETY RECALL

Jayco has issued another safety recall, this time on selected Starcraft caravans fitted with an air-conditioner. According to the recall notice, "The air-conditioner compressor may have been wired incorrectly, reversing the polarity and operating the compressor in reverse".

The recall affects 386 Starcraft vans with a chassis number between M71056 and N80247. The notice also says that "There are no hazards presented by the product unless consumers attempt to repair it themselves".

Jayco has sent a letter to affected owners, who have been asked to contact their nearest Jayco dealer or authorised service agent and arrange to have their caravan inspected and rectified if required.

INDUSTRY BODY WANTS YOUR OPINION

The Recreational Vehicles Manufacturers Association of Australia (RVMAA) is seeking feedback from RV owners as part of a new 'Talk to Us' section on its website.

RVMAA president Richard Raven said the findings of the online survey would be used to advise its members on how RV owners felt about the RV buying and ownership experience.

"We have created this survey to give us a picture of the areas that owners consider most important, and thereby to help members prioritise their development programs," Raven said.

"Results will be collated to help us prioritise industry development activities, and individual member manufacturers will be notified of any concerns specific to them."

The survey results will not be available to the public, although respondents can request a personal reply if necessary.

The RVMAA represents 76 Australia-based RV manufacturers although Jayco, which has around 45 per cent of the national RV market, is no longer a member.
