Fresh Volkswagen-badged campervans were out in force at this year's Victorian Caravan Supershow, with new models from Sunliner, Achtung Campers and Volkswagen Australia based on the latest Crafter and Multivan variants.
Taking centre stage on the Sunliner stand was the Melbourne manufacturer's latest Pinto motorhome based on Volkswagen's Crafter 4Motion all-wheel drive chassis.
The stylish, 6.7m long two-berth motorhome features Sunliner's trademark front lounge with drop down bed, a central kitchenette and spacious rear ensuite.
Priced at $178,550, it comes loaded with features including diesel heating, rooftop air conditioning and a twin 110Ah battery system with 1000W inverter and 170W roottop solar.
The new VW camper also gets Sunliner's latest grey/black exterior colour scheme, and some trick interior/exterior lighting including a raised, glowing 'Sunliner' external badge.
Usually focussing on the smaller, Kombi-size campers, Victoria's Achtung Campers had a larger Vee-dub campervan on display at the Supershow, based on the mid-wheelbase Crafter 4Motion with 2.0-litre four cylinder turbo-diesel engine and eight speed auto.
Featuring eye-catching retro-green cloth upholstery and slick white/timber cabinetry, the new camper comes with front swivel seats, dual battery system, dimmable LED lighting, a stainless sink with electric hand pump, diesel induction cooktop, 80 litre fridge, 130 litre freshwater and 80L grey tank, diesel hot water/air heater, internal shower and composting toilet.
The display camper was also optioned up with a rooftop bed, Cel-Fi mobile wi-fi booster, 290W rooftop solar and a 20L drawer fridge.
Achtung Campers' was quoting $74,740 for a BYO conversion, or $167,580 for the complete turnkey campervan.
Volkswagen Australia displayed a striking metallic green version of its new Volkswagen California Beach, based on Volkswagen's new T6.1 Multivan.
While lacking kitchen or bathroom amenities, the California Beach is still a good choice for some stealth camping or caravan park visits with seats that fold down to form a full-size double bed and a pop-roof roof that raises the interior height and can be fitted with another roof bed for the kids.
It's available in front-drive and all-wheel drive configurations, from $82,990.
