New video tutorials provide step-by-step instructions for setting up a weight distribution hitchWeight distribution hitches are a great idea, particularly when towing a heavy caravan, but incorrect set-up or improper use can be as foolhardy as not using one in the first place.
To make the process less confusing, towing accessories specialist Hayman Reese has released two instructional videos showing the right way to set up a weight distribution hitch, just in time for the busy summer holidays.
As the videos explain, weight distribution hitches help transfer the weight (or load) of a caravan or trailer across all axles of the towing configuration.
Spring bars attached from the A-frame of the caravan to the tow ball mounting, act like the handles of a wheel-barrow to transfer weight evenly across the vehicle and entire towing load.
As well as step-by-step instructions for setting up a Hayman Reese weight distribution hitch, the videos discuss other issues like the importance of selecting the correct weight distribution hitch according to the tow ball weight of the caravan.
They also touch on other towing aids available, designed to complement weight distribution hitches such as sway controllers and safety chain extension kits.
