Northern R.V Caravans of Somerton, Victoria, has introduced a new slide-on camper under the brand name Vantage. The new model comes in either rear door or side door body styles with layouts to suit.
The van is constructed of Meranti timber framing with aluminium cladding, with a pop-up roof and tinted, wind-out windows also included.
Standard features include a double bed, two-person dinette with leather upholstery, and a kitchen with four burner stove and grill, rangehood, microwave, and three-way 90 litre fridge.
The kitchen also comes with laminated benchtops and splashbacks, as well as ample cupboard space. The stainless steel sink with mixer tap, is hooked up to a 60 litre freshwater tank and 12V pump.
According to Northern R.V director Bill Josevski, the Vantage slide-on can be custom built to suit a range of single and dual cab utes.
"We will build them to fit onto any tray ute," he said.
The new campers are manufactured by a small team led by Josevski, who has many years experience in the repair and manufacture of caravans.
Although full specifications were not available, he said the Vantage should weigh 680kg fully loaded. It comes standard with four, manually adjustable support legs for setting up at camp, or the supports can be electrically adjustable at extra cost.
The Vantage is priced at $23,900, with a few options available including solar panels and a house battery.
Josevski said one of the advantages of the Vantage over other slide-ons is that it is custom built to individual requirements, with each camper taking two weeks to construct.
"They’re a hand-made thing, they’re not mass-produced. We can actually custom build at no extra charge," he said.
