A new RV-themed rock 'n roll festival set to run over three days in Queensland this month has been cancelled.
Blending elements of a traditional capital-city caravan show with themed Outback camping and music festivals like the Big Red Bash, the inaugural Van Jam was set to run at Queensland's Willowbank Raceway from September 22-24.
However Van Jam organisers, Caravanning Queensland, have cited "increasing logistical and operational challenges" as the reason for postponing the event to 2024.
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our members and stakeholders for their support as we sought to bring this exciting event to life," the state industry body said on social media.
"We specifically wish to thank our venue partner, Willowbank Raceway for working with and supporting us in the planning process throughout this year, and we very much look forward resuming these efforts in due course."
With a range of on-site camping packages available, the all-ages event had lined up a variety of musical acts, prizes and entertainment over the three days, including a "killer mix of Aussie rock legends and emerging talents".
A number of RV industry brands including JB Caravans, Cruisemaster, MDC Campers, Austrack Campers and CIL Insurance had also thrown their support behind the inaugural event.
Caravanning Queensland said 2023 Van Jam ticket holders "will receive correspondence from Oztix outlining the next steps".
It also said an alternative event called The Round Up is scheduled for September 22-23 at the Racecourse Hotel in Ipswich, where many of the original Van Jam line-up including Daryl Braithwaite, Russell Morris, Vixens of Fall, Eskimo Joe, Thirsty Merc, Frente, Adam Brand and Fanny Lumsden are set to perform.
