Unsold Billabong caravans go to auction

Chance to snap up a near-new luxury van for bargain money in online auction

Bargain hunters will have the chance to pick up a cut-price, late-model caravan from failed Melbourne manufacturer Billabong Custom Caravans during an online auction that kicks off this week.

Pickles, which is conducting the online auction, has listed 24 mostly near-new Billabong caravans as part of the liquidation sale. Most are 2018-build models, with an estimated total value of around $2million.

Models include Grove, Coolibah, Matilda, Redgum, Redback, Shearwater, and Wanderer, in both single and tandem axle configurations and ranging in body size from 16ft to 22ft.

All are built using traditional ‘stick and tin’ construction, while some are missing items like keys and a few have dents and scratches.

Buyers can bid from anywhere in Australia, with the auction running from 10am February 8 until 7.30pm, February 14. Successful bidders will be required to pick up their van from one of three locations: Altona North, Victoria, Gateshead NSW, and Eagle Farm, Queensland.

The vans can be inspected at various times throughout the auction or by appointment.

Sydney rd, Campbellfield-based Billabong Custom Caravans was placed in external administration last October. The low-volume custom caravan builder was in operation for around 12 years and built “quality, handmade, custom caravans” according to its website.
