The Shepparton, Victorian inventor of the high-tech CrzrVan off-road caravan has come up with a unique camper trailer that can carry a shed-load of motorized toys and other recreational gear while still catering to basic camping needs.
Most so-called 'toy haulers' are basically camper trailers or caravans with a garage space or open platform added for a couple of motorbikes or a quad bike. However, CrzrVan founder Rhys Conti has come at it from a different angle: designing a versatile 'transporter' trailer with a few camping accessories built in.
Completed just before Christmas, the Crzr (Cruiser) Industries Toy Hauler features similar rock-solid underpinnings as the game-changing Crzr caravan, using the 150mm x 50mm x 3mm steel chassis from the 19ft 6in Crzr family model, together with D0-35 htich, stone guard, 120 litre water tank, corner stabilisers, underslung spare wheel and provision for a winch.
The bespoke, 'live axle' suspension set-up is also similar, incorporating Cruisemaster axles and brakes along with radius arms, bump stops and panhard rods from the Toyota 79 Series, but with coil springs rather than airbags and twin shocks per side.
Also included is a Dometic external kitchen with gas cooktop and sink, that hooks up to a gas bottle in the front compartment that also stores the slide-out kitchen when not in use.
The checkerplate covered deck delivers 5.1 metres of space, or enough for at least four motorbikes and a quad bike, while there's another 3.2m on the roof for kayaks, tents, etc.
Adjustable roof hurdles for the skeletal frame allow vertical adjustment of the three Yakima roof platforms by up to 600mm to assist with packing and unpacking.
There are also E-track tie-down rails running along both sides of the deck for easy securing of gear, and an open storage platform up front for an additional swag or tent.
Described as the "ultimate blank canvas", the Crzr Toy Hauler features a Tare of 1550kg and ATM of 3500kg, to deliver a massive payload of 1950kg.
Pricing starts at $34,990 but fitting options like the 120lt water tank, 12V water pump, 100Ah battery, and the roof platforms raises the asking price above $40,000.
