Ultimate Campers has expanded operations at its Moruya, NSW headquarters with the opening of a new production facility, directly across the road from its existing factory. ??
Ultimate says the new facility boosts overall factory floor space to 4000 square metres, and creates a dedicated end-to-end production facility for its range-topping Nautilus off-road camper trailer while freeing space for expected growth in its entry-level X20, XPLOR and XTRK camper model ranges. ??
There will also be an expanded area dedicated to servicing the growing fleet of existing Ultimate campers, which number approximately 1700 since Ultimate built its first boat-shaped, all-fibreglass camper in 1994.
“We have exhausted our initial Nautilus build slot allocation for 2015, however this new facility will offer efficiencies and speed up our build times, and shortly we hope to release a second allocation of build slots for 2015 delivery,” Ultimate’s National Sales and Marketing Manager, Simon Don, said.
Ultimate released the game-changing Nautilus camper in early-2012 and recently delivered the 19th Nautilus unit, and the fourth, top-spec GT model priced from $125,000, to new owners Mike and Marie.
Ultimate’s staff numbers have expanded by about 10 per cent to 76 employees with the opening of the new facility. Its workforce also includes 36 apprentices who are undertaking a specifically developed apprenticeship program focussing on the key aspects of camper trailer manufacturing.
The company recently introduced a special, carbon fibre trimmed X20 edition of its popular XPLOR camper, to celebrate two decades in the RV manufacturing business.
