Ultimate GT 360 breaks cover

More than 40 changes made to latest version of compact, hardcore off-road camper

Moruya, NSW-based Ultimate Campers has bounced back from a near-death experience, launching an enticing new version of its long-standing compact, all-fibreglass camper at last week’s Melbourne 4x4 Show.

Around eight months after the Eagle Outdoors Group breathed new life into the struggling Australian RV manufacturer, Ultimate ripped the wraps off its new GT 360 hardcore off-road camper trailer at the Melbourne Showgrounds.

The new range-topping model has more than “40 tweaks and improvements” according to new Ultimate owner and Eagle Outdoors Group Managing Director David Rodgers.

New Ultimate GT 360 has more than 40 changes from previous model

Ultimate said the latest version of the 25-year-old lightweight camper design “derives its name from the standard inclusion of an all-new canvas that offers 360 degrees of coverage”.

Outdoor coverage has been boosted from 18.8 square metres to 22 sq.m on the GT 360, with the option of adding extra canvas to boost coverage to 42 sq.m.

“The canvas also allows 360-degree views of the landscape with larger windows all around, and with window clears included as standard. Internally, the tent is 10cm taller,” the company said.

External BBQ bench is one of a number of new options available

The GT 360 also features a new Ezi-Fold Bed system to make setting up and packing down the king size bed easier, and there’s a new attached ensuite tent with built-in floor at the rear for outdoor showering.

Other new features on the Ultimate GT 360 include a redesigned lounge and new swivel table to free up room inside, a new three burner stove/sink combination, new reading lights with USB points, and new Webasto 120L compressor fridge/freezer.

Other standard features on the top-spec model include gas hot water and a dual 120Ah battery system with Redarc Manager 30.

Drop-down rear shower tent is also new

New options available include an additional 50 litre fresh water tank and 50 litre grey water tank, external gas point, external hanging ‘barbeque bench”, additional 9kg gas bottle and external speakers.

The range-topping GT 360 can sleep up to seven people, and like some previous models is available with carbon fibre benchtops.

The 4.5m (overall length) Ultimate GT 360 has a Tare weight of 950kg, and pricing starts at $65,990.
