Ultimate European camp out

Rare chance to stay in a vintage van on the shores of stunning Lake Lucerne in Switzerland

Have you secretly been pining after a European holiday but don’t like the thought of travelling without your beloved RV?

Then the Roll Hotel could be for you.

This 1960s vintage caravan has been freshly decorated and offers a lucky couple the chance to sleep directly on the banks of Switzerland’s stunning Lake Lucerne.

Surrounded by towering mountain ranges and boasting crystal clear aqua-blue water, there’s no hotel that will afford you the same view and level of privacy.

You get to choose from six different campsites around the banks of the lake and the Roll Hotel crew will set up the van there to await your arrival, so no worrying about towing on the wrong side of precipitous alpine roads.

The van itself has been tastefully decorated in a vintage style and offers all the mod-cons you’ll need to enjoy your stay on the lake, including heating, camp chairs, an awning, atmospheric fairy lights, a turntable with a collection of records, a fridge and a minibar full of snacks.

The caravan hotel is part of a larger celebration, known as ‘Gastival’, which sees 2015 nominated as the ‘Year of Hospitality’ to recognise 200 years of tourism in central Switzerland.

As part of this event there will be a giant statue of a water lily in the centre of Lake Lucerne, and in the evenings it will be used as a stage for concerts and artistic events.

Roll Hotel guests will be ideally situated to attend these events, which include local gastronomic delights (such as Swiss chocolate).

Roll Hotel also offers picnics as an optional extra that you can order to enjoy on the ‘beach’ in front of your van.

Operating during the summer months for the duration of the Gastival festival, Roll Hotel is available for bookings from May 29 until October 4, 2015.

Prices for this unique retro caravan experience start at $335 per couple, per night and include breakfast.
