Finally, some good news for the beleaguered Australian caravan and camper trailer manufacturing industry!
In the wake of the recent voluntary closure of Ultimate Off-Road Campers, Eagle Outdoors Group has come to the rescue, purchasing the innovative NSW South Coast off-road brand and vowing to continuing manufacturing the premium, all-fibreglass lightweight camper trailers in Moruya.
Announcing the purchase, the founders of Eagle Outdoor Group, David and Bronwyn Rodgers, said they were “one hundred per cent committed to the people and local community who have made this amazing camper such a success over the past two plus decades".
“We are pleased to announce production will recommence immediately,” the new Ultimate owners said on Eagle’s Facebook page.
Eagle Outdoors is a large, well known and respected outdoor and camping manufacturing family business that has been in operation since 1978, with the company’s headquarters in Melbourne. Other Eagle Outdoor Group brands include Bluewater Campers, EMU Camper Trailers and Didgeridoonas Australia.
“We are delighted to be re-employing many of the local team who know this product inside out and will take us forward in the years ahead,” Eagle’s Facebook statement added.
“These are high-quality campers that will continue to be made in Australia, by Australians, for Australian off-road adventures.”
The team at Moruya met with David and Bronwyn Rodgers and Eagle Outdoors Group Operations Manager Tim Drysdale earlier this week in Moruya.
Under its new ownership, the Moruya manufacturing team will be led by Jason Stevens, who has been with Ultimate Campers for the past 10 years.
