Shiny new turnkey campervan available for just $50K

Unique opportunity to pick up a brand spanking new albeit basic campervan for second-hand money

East coast business Kombi Life is offering entry-level campervans from as little as $50,000, based on brand new but stripped back short-wheel base T7 Volkswagen Transporter panel vans.

Base T7 Transporter 'Lite'

The 'Limited Edition Ecocamper' deal includes a basic camper fit-out of the 2026 Volkswagen Transporter 'Lite'; essentially a new Transporter but with a few things missing, like factory air-conditioning and the rear floor, while the full partition behind the front seats also misses out on a window.

The short wheelbase 'Lite' Transporters are also only available as three-seaters, with a lifting tailgate at the rear instead of barn doors, and a bland courier look including matte black bumpers and clear white paintjob.

Inside the Transporter before Kombi Life gets to work

Starting at a base price of $39,990, Kombi Life adds enough features to get you on the road and camping, including side windows and a passenger side sliding door, a bed with mattress, a 173Ah off-grid power pack, 75L fridge/freezer, and a twin gas burner stove, to bring the total price (plus on-road costs) to just under $50,000.

Kombi Life also removes the factory partition and adds professional B-pillar trims as part of the Ecocamper fit-out.

A pop-top roof like this one will add another $20K or so to the price

If there's more cash in the bank, Kombi Life has numerous option boxes that buyers can tick, including a bigger battery system and solar, a certified pop-top roof for more headroom inside, interior insulation and flooring, 12V fans and an air-conditioner, plus exterior add-ons like suspension upgrades, fancy wheels and an awning, although combined they'll add tens of thousands of dollars to the final driveaway price.

Kombi Life says it has only nine 'Ecocamper' vehicles available, which are backed by a five-year factory warranty.
