There are many trailers available on the market designed purely for recreational use and camping trips. But what about the rest of the year when you're stuck at home and need a trailer to cart the tools for work or grab some supplies from the hardware store?
A new '365 day' multi-purpose camper trailer has hit the market from Queensland start-up Camp Cube, that's designed to be dragged to either the worksite or the campground depending on how it's set up.
Blending design elements of a slide-on ute tray camper, a camper trailer and humble work trailer, the new Camp Cube lifestyle trailer looks like a standard box-style camper behind the 4WD, with its large camper-storage module fitted with roof-top tent, and a drawbar loaded up with storage compartments, bike racks and the spare tyre.
However, its main party trick is the rolling base chassis detaches and slides out from under the camper module, after four corner stabilisers are dropped down to support it. Camp Cube says it takes about 10-15 minutes to re-connect the camper-cube to the underlying trailer platform..
The camper module features a large kitchen recess on the onside, with benchtop, cupboards and a sink with tap, and another large storage locker on the offside.
Camp Cube says there's up to 4850 litres of storage space depending on the configuration, and up to 300 litres of water storage, with different style fridges, water and air heaters able to be fitted.
As well as a tradie's trailer, the base section can also be used as a toy hauler, with a platform big enough to to carry a motorcycle or two for a dirty week-end away. The base trailer also includes removable and built-in side storage lockers, with space to fit a battery system, jerry cans and gas bottles.
Built to last the 4.0m long x 1.9m wide off-road trailer rides on Cruisemaster independent trailing arm suspension, with either coil springs or airbags.
The Camp Cube's other party trick is the front storage area converts to a shower pod, with a solid platform and shower tent that can also be used to house a portable toilet.
The video below shows how the off-the-ground shower pod sets up...
The Camp Cube is designed, engineered and built in Australia, with pricing starting at around $50,000 depending on the level of specification and features included.
The Tare weight and ATM also depends on the final configuration of the Camp Cube (although an ATM of around 1200-1500kg can be expected), and each lifestyle trailer is fully customisable to suit the buyer. The base trailer can also be purchased separately, with the camper Cube added later as the budget permits.
