Australian company Trakka has announced a new line of modular camping solutions for aspiring travellers who wish to deck out their existing set of wheels.

Developed in-house alongside existing production lines at Trakka’s NSW headquarters, the new modular range is simply known as Trakkit and offers everything from retrofittable power stations, cooktops and water supply to storage and refrigeration.

Ready to fit

Trakka provides the modular solutions pre-assembled, meaning owners can simply order them and arrange fitment themselves to the side or rear of almost any commercial vehicle.
According to Trakka Australia spokesperson, Alex Berry, Trakkit offers the quality and functionality the company is well known for, but with newfound adaptability.

“To make the project user-friendly and practical, characteristics are as portable as possible so campers are not just restricted to the back of the van,” she said.

“You’ll recognise Trakka conversion range features as well as a host of completely new concepts, so the final Trakkit system embodies a classic look, incredible quality and functionality we haven’t seen before.”

Wide application

The modular Trakkit solutions have so far been designed for the Mercedes-Benz eVito, Volkswagen Multivan and Volkswagen Transporter LWB, however officials say they are now investigating myriad other vehicles including dual-cab utes, SUVs and even passenger cars.

The modular systems are secured by a vehicle’s existing tiedown points, thereby meaning minimal additional bolting. Trakkit then interlocks different pieces of the module using specially constructed laminate keys.

“There are no rules to how the modules are configured and it will likely vary from use to use. The unit is delivered already assembled and designed to be easily installed and uninstalled by the user,” Trakka says.

More to come

Trakka has released pricing for many of the Trakkit pieces, including its power module ($2300), water module ($940) and rooftop bed and awning package ($13,801).

The company is currently developing additional modules designed specifically for baristas and tradies, plus much more.

Pre-orders for Trakkit mounts, modules and additional accessories are now open on the Trakka website, with first deliveries to commence from September.
