Queensland off-road camper manufacturer Trackabout has ripped the covers off a blacked-out, limited edition model, just weeks before its first public showing at the NSW Caravan, Camping and Touring Supershow.
Celebrating 20 years of manufacturing, the sinister-looking Trackabout AE20 (Anniversary Edition 20) package adds around $12,000 to the cost of Trackabout’s Safari and Safari Extenda tent camper models, bringing the total camper price to $38,250 and $41,500 respectively.
Apart from all the usual standard inclusions, the AE20 model picks up a number of exclusive features including a custom, two-tone powdercoat exterior finish; as well as features that are normally available as options.
These include laser cut AE20 decals, Cruisemaster XT coil independent suspension and DO35 hitch, two Maxtrax recovery tracks, black alloy wheels with Federal off-road tyres, a pull-out kitchen with Smev 8000 Series cooktop/sink and 60 litre Evakool fridge/freezer, Redarc Manager 30 battery management system, tilting boat rack, and marine grade Fusion audio system.
Among other neat AE20 touches include a custom foam insert for the kitchen drawer to keep all the supplied crockery for four in one piece when travelling over rough terrain.
Apart from that, you get all the usual Safari or Safari Extenda features which include up to 3300 litres of storage, two 120Ah batteries, hot dipped galvanized chassis, Wax Converters canvas, 85 litre water storage and a payload between 850 and 1050kg.
The Trackabout brand was established in the late-1990s before being sold to new owners a few years later. The Slacks Creek, Queensland-based manufacturer now builds two, well-equipped models in either ‘family’ soft-floor or ‘basecamp’ rooftop-tent touring styles -- both of which are promoted as having quick, three minute set-ups.
Trackabout deals directly from its Brisbane factory but will freight a camper to other parts of Australia if required.
The company says all customers currently holding an order for a Trackabout camper will now have the option of an AE20 upgrade.
