Australia has a talent for producing some of the world’s most rugged camper trailers. Most don't venture outside the domestic scene, but a few have been slowly working their way onto the American adventure market, with various models from well-known brands like Patriot and AOR not to mention BRS and Offtrax having made the trip across the Pacific.
The hard-shell Tvan teardrop from Melbourne's Track Trailer becomes the latest, traveling from its longtime stomping grounds in the Australian Outback to the equally dry, rugged no-man's lands of the American Southwest with a uniquely spec'd version of its mid-range Zenith.
Like its rivals, the Tvan will be sold through Australian-made RV specialist XGRiD Campers of Las Vegas.
One of the major obstacles in bringing a trailer to the USA from Australia is reworking the electrical system around local specifications. Track's job was made easier by the fact that the Tvan line-up includes the option of a state-of-the-art Redarc electrical system. Also a well-established Australian brand, Redarc has been growing its US RV electrical component lineup for the better part of the past decade.
Like the Aus-spec Tvan, the US version gets a fully integrated electrical system that runs through Redarc's RedVision management system. This centralised command system replaces individual switches and monitors with a single display and accompanying mobile app for control and monitoring of functions like lighting, battery, water tanks and power outlets.
The electrical outlets are now 120V rather than 240V and the American-spec Tvan also includes a 30A shore power charger, a 350W inverter, 120W of roof-mounted solar panels and a DC-to-DC charger.
XGRiD also offers the Zenith with Track's extra-large premium kitchen, an expandable slide-out unit that comes stocked with a triple-burner stove, stainless steel sink, large stainless steel countertop and storage drawers.
Also standard fitment are the Quick Cover awning and 106L fresh water tank, while a 68L supplementary tank is available for those who want to be even better prepared.
Americans appreciate convenience and the streamlined and user-friendly Skyward Lift-Up Deck of Track’s gen-five Tvan is also part of the package.
The first US-spec Tvan will land in XGRiD's Las Vegas Motor Speedway-adjacent showroom this month. XGRiD has not yet listed full details, but pricing is expected to start in the low to mid US$60,000 bracket, depending upon selected options.
