Track is marking another major milestone of its trend-setting Tvan hardcore camper, with two limited edition versions now available to celebrate the 25th year of production of the premium Melbourne-built compact off-road trailer.
Reviving the Firetail model name last used in 2016 as a homage to the original name given to the Tvan’s novel clam-shell camper design when it was introduced in 1999, the latest Limited Edition Tvan model is available in two versions, the Firetail and Firetail Spark.
To make them stand out from other Tvan models, both get a new Jet Grey Canvas for the rear tent section. The Firetail Limited Edition also catches the eye with a Desert Firetail colour scheme including custom Firetail decals, while the Firetail Spark boasts a more attention-grabbing gold Firetail colour scheme along with two other highlight colours.
Priced from $76,500, the 2024 Tvan Firetail Special Edition comes standard with a more basic spec including diesel hot water and heater, and a single 125Ah lithium battery with 120W rooftop solar, while the Firetail Spark Special Edition (priced from $86,500 ex-Melbourne) adds the premium kitchen, a 200Ah lithium battery system with 200W solar and a 2000W inverter, plus a few other extras including upgraded 17in alloy wheels.
"The Firetail has been designed for the minimalist camper who wants to take some modern luxuries with them to really remote places. It has everything they need, including diesel heating and hot water, but nothing they don’t," Track's Marketing Manager Lloyd Waldron said.
"The Firetail Spark is more of a nod to the future. The Spark gets many of the latest innovations at Track, including an increased ATM of 1800kg for more payload capacity, and the latest in electrical technology," he said.
The Track Tvan Firetail Spark Special Edition camper is currently on display at the Victorian Caravan & Camping Supershow at the Melbourne Showgrounds (Feb 21-25)
Reflecting on the Tvan's uninterrupted 25 year production run, Waldron attributed the unique model's 'survival' to ongoing improvements and innovations made over the Tvan's five generations of model upgrades.
“We've just continuously evolved. Like some of the icons of the car industry, I think the Tvan’s survival for all of this time, has really been because it's grown with its customers, it's grown with their needs, it's grown with the available technology. It's a thoroughly up to date thing, even though it's 25 years old," he said.
