Towable treats at Wodonga Expo

A unique hybrid camper and new ‘leak free' luxury caravans will be among the highlights at this month's Border RV & Camping Expo in Victoria

A unique new hybrid caravan-camper boasting a full-width external rear kitchen will make its show debut at the Border RV & Camping Expo at Wodonga, Victoria later this month.

According to the Victorian manufacturer Bushranger Campers, the Great Divide combines the comfortable and secure sleeping quarters of a caravan with a well-equipped but entirely separate, kitchen accessed from outside, all in a compact, rugged camper trailer set-up.

The compact Great Divide comes with twin beds, a pop-top roof and the full width kitchen with a 65 litre Waeco fridge, two-burner Smev stove, rangehood, glass lid sink and LED lighting.

Priced from $29,860 plus dealer delivery and on road costs for the on-road version, and $30,860.00 for off-road, it has an overall length of just 4.1m, body length of 2.95m and travel height of 2.05m.

Among other debutants at the Border Expo will be three new luxury off-road models from Melbourne’s Van Cruiser Caravans, all featuring the manufacturer’s DuraSeal leak-free guarantee.

According to Van Cruiser, the Savannah Resort Gold Series caravan is the epitome of elegance with an en suite bathroom, washing machine, deluxe leather cafe lounge, double-glazed and tinted windows, and endless gas instant hot water.

It's a big beast though, weighing more than three tonnes fully loaded and with an external length of almost nine metres. It's also the most expensive in the Van Cruiser caravan range, priced from $93,290.

Also new from Van Cruiser are the Matilda Resort Gold Series and Graceland Resort Gold Series, both offering a similar level of amenities as the well-equipped Savannah.

Van Cruiser designs its special DuraSeal system into every model with careful construction methods and high-quality materials designed to eliminate wall rot and water penetration.

Flat aluminium dual-layered composite panels with a polyethylene core are bonded to the timber frame, which not only adds structural strength and durability, but also seals the panels together without gaps, preventing water from penetrating into the caravan according to Van Cruiser.

Staged by the Caravan Industry Association of Victoria, the Border RV & Camping Expo will take place at the Wodonga Racecourse close to the Victoria/NSW border, from August 16-18. Going on previous years, the rural show is expected to attract around 120 exhibitors and 15,000 people through the gates over three days.

Admission is $10 adults, $8 concession and free for kids under 15 (accompanied by an adult) – with free parking and free kids’ activities.
