Got a wander-lust and plenty of time to tow a heavy van on a trip around Australia, but want to bring a few toys?
Queensland’s Australian Adventure Vehicles has got the answer for you with its new Isuzu NPS 75/45-155-based crew cab 4WD truck that it released at the recent Let’s Go Queensland Caravan and Camping Supershow in Brisbane.
Fitted with a cavernous gull-winged storage box behind the dual cab, leaving room to lash a couple of trailbikes, one or two personal watercraft or a rooftop tent on its 1400mm x 1940mm checkerplate rear deck, the Isuzu adventure truck fears no terrain that its owner is game to tackle.
Powered by a 5.2-litre turbo-diesel engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission, with stump-pulling torque through a dual-range transfer case and riding high on huge 37-inch Super Single tyres, the vehicle can also be built on a Fuso chassis outfitted to the owner’s specification.
Ideal for use by long-tern travellers or nomads, the Isuzu comes standard with a diesel 390-litre capacity fuel tank and a matching 390-litre fresh water tank, ensuring plenty of time between town stops when you take into account the water capacity of a towed caravan. An additional fuel tank of 150 litres capacity can also be specified.
With a GVM of either 7000kg, or less than 4500kg – the latter allowing it be driven on a regular car licence – the vehicle comes from AAV equipped with an ECM winch-compatible bull bar, front wheel flares and mud flaps, with a 770kg rear winch as an option.
A number of other options were fitted to the display Isuzu, taking its price from a base of $94,100 to a total of $164,795.
Add a big off-road luxury van on the back and you have a travel-anywhere home for around $350,000, which compares with the price of a well-appointed one-bedroom apartment in a major Australian capital city, with a different view every night if you wish!
