Off-road truck-based ‘expedition vehicles” are the glamour-mobiles of the RV world, but with price tags often well into six or even seven figures, they’re out of reach to most. However, bargain hunters might want to keep an eye on the upcoming auction of a relatively new, low mileage, Global Warrior motorhome, built by Queensland’s All Terrain Warriors. The fully self-contained, truck-based camper is based on a 2010 model 'Mitsubishi' Fuso Canter 4x4 with gutsy 110kW/370Nm 3.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. Previously used as a 'demo, it has just 26,594km showing on the odometer.
As well as the snazzy ‘desert sand’ pop-top fibreglass motorhome body perched behind the driver’s cab, the conversion included single rear wheels in lieu of the old ‘duallies’ at the rear, plus new parabolic leaf springs for a nicer ride. The transmission has also been upgraded to an Allison six-speed automatic.
Accessible from the driver’s seat, the compact but well equipped living quarters include a small kitchen, dinette, shower/toilet and double bed.
Also part of the Global Warrior package is a bull bar and front and rear-mounted winches, CB radio, roll-out awing, exterior storage compartments, two spare wheels, 230 litres fuel capacity, 185 and 85 litre water tanks and a 420Ah battery and solar set-up.
Based in Yandina, Queensland, All Terrain Warriors is a family-owned company that specialises in vehicle modifications for eco-tourism, mining, and private motorhome markets both locally and overseas.
The All Terrain Warrior motorhome will go under the hammer on Monday 14 August, as part of Pickles’ luxury auction sale in Sydney. There will be a reserve price but the vehicle will be sold unregistered. Those unable to attend the auction can still bid in ‘real time’ using the 'Pickles Live' online bidding facility.
