Kedron builds $200,000-plus caravan
In a year where a handful of Australian-built caravans broke through the $200,000 barrier, Kedron's show-stopping 26ft, triple axle off-road couple's van still managed to stand out.
Breaking cover at the Queensland Supershow, it was the most expensive caravan ever built by the long-standing Queensland caravan builder, and came with everything from a chilled water tap to heated lounge seats...

Believe it or not, this money-no-object extreme off-roader from NSW-based Earthcruiser wasn't the only 'Mega-Mog' to hit the ground in 2018, with the now defunct Kimberley coming out with its own Mercedes-Benz Unimog based motorhome (a relative steal by comparison at $269,000 drive-away!)

The truth about overweight caravans
It's one of the biggest issues hanging over the Australian RV community -- overweight caravans (and tow vehicles) -- so it was no surprise to discover that more than half the vans weighed by a mobile weighing service were over the limit!
Paying $200 (or less at a public weigh bridge) for an 'official' weight-check should be on every caravanner's to-do list in 2019...

In a year where a number of local caravan and camper trailer manufacturers hit the wall, one of the most attention-grabbing collapses was NSW off-road specialist Kimberley Kampers.
A tech leader in the RV industry, Kimberley dealt with numerous financial dramas in its final months, before finally shutting the factory gates and laying off 50 workers in July.

Australia's first trailerboat camper?
Just when we thought we'd seen it all, along came the Aussie Boat Camp prototype, with a double-deck set-up that houses a boat trailer at the bottom, and fold-out balcony and camping deck up top.
Australia's first trailerboat camper is expected to hit production in early-2019 priced from $58,000, so don't be surprised to see one of these contraptions near the water in the not-to-distant future...
