There's a stylish new Aussie-built teardrop camper on the market, with Queensland's Jag Camper recently launching its latest Jag Glider pod trailer at the 2025 Cleveland Caravan, Camping, Boating & 4x4 Expo in Brisbane.
A 'little brother' to Jag's TD camper released in late-2023, the Jag Glider is even lighter and more compact than the original Jag pod, with a starting Tare of around 500kg, 50kg ball weight and 1000kg ATM.
It's also a proper teardrop size, at just 4.0m long (overall), 2.0m wide and 1.84m high.
The new Brisbane-built Glider teardrop offers a more affordable entry point to the Jag range, with a starting price of $35,000 compared to $47,000 for the bigger TD model.
"The Glider is a true breakthrough — an ultra-light, off-road camper designed to be towed by almost any car, including EVs," Jag Camper co-founder Jack Gosdschan said.
"Despite its light weight, the Glider is still packed with the luxuries and craftsmanship you’ve come to expect from a Jag Camper. And yes, it can be finished in any colour you choose."
While light enough to be pushed around by hand, the Jag Glider is designed and built for some rough-and-tumble with a hot dipped galvanised chassis, AL-KO independent suspension, hydraulic override disc brakes, composite body panels, and marine-grade and UV-coated plywood cabinetry.
The traditional teardrop design includes a basic rear kitchen with strut-assisted lid, 30L slide-out fridge, a portable twin gas burner cooker, LED lighting, charging points, a 12V pump-powered water outlet and various storage, while there are more storage spots, lighting and charging points inside, along with a memory foam double bed mattress.
The Jag Glider also gets a 60L fresh water tank and a 100Ah lithium battery system, water and battery monitors, twin security doors, a sunroof and side windows, among other standard features.
"We spent the last few months absolutely grinding out the engineering and construction of the first prototype so we could launch it at the Cleveland Caravan Show," explained Jack. "We are very happy with the response, it was very popular at the show."
Jag plans to offer a number of options including a batwing awning, roof rack, off-road hitch, storage box, inflatable annexe, TV and rear camera.
The father-and-son operation is taking orders now for its second model, with the first production units expected to roll out of the Brisbane workshop in early-2026. More details on the Jag Camper website.
