Tesla-like Pebble Flow EV caravan coming

A production-ready version of the cutting-edge US-built Pebble Flow caravan has been unveiled, with first deliveries of a feature-packed Founders Edition model expected in the first half of 2025.

After receiving public feedback following the announcement of the ground-breaking 21ft (internal length) single axle all-electric caravan in 2023, the California-based Pebble company has made a number of changes to the final production version which include enlarging the side entry door and boosting the interior height to 6ft 5in (192.5cm).

The moon-roof with ambient lighting has also been relocated to the front of the van, closer to the dinette/lounge, while the rear window now opens up wider for improved ventilation.

Storage enhancements include new top-hinged kitchen overhead cupboard doors and a larger exterior 'tunnel boot', while rear end tweaks including a more offset bumper and flush tail-lights add to the slick aerodynamic styling.

Also new is a rear hitch receiver for a bike rack, while increased ground clearance together with all-terrain tyres and jockey wheel, add to the Pebble Flow's off-roadability.

As well as boasting powered axles, the Pebble Flow van also gets 'Magic Hitch' and 'Remote Control' features that combined, allow hands-free and automatic hitching of the caravan to the tow vehicle. The self-propelled single axle set-up is said to deliver "never seen before manoevrability", including 360 degree turning on an axis.

There's also a one-touch 'Instacamp' set-up feature that, when using the Pebble Flow app, automatically deploys the awning, steps, lights and auto-levellng stabilisers in seconds.

The 3084kg ATM Pebble Flow van also boasts an automotive-grade body construction and glossy paint finish, with up to four exterior colours available.

The all-electric van can run off-the-grid for up to seven days, using its standard 45kWh LFP battery pack and 1.1kW rooftop solar array. The battery can be charged in multiple ways including regenerative charging while towing, while the caravan's battery will also charge an EV tow vehicle, or be used run household appliances or other camping equipment.

A modern and user-friendly interior fit-out offers up to four berths, including a Murphy bed that converts to a desk and work station in seconds. There's also a 'spa' bathroom with a shower cubicle and macerating toilet, and an induction cooktop, 4-in-1 convection microwave and full-size fridge in the kitchen.

Other state-of-the-art features including a whisper-quiet HVAC system, smart window glass and plug-and-play Starlink connectivity.

The Pebble Flow van measures 740cm (L) x 227.5cm (W) x 262cm (H), and has been described as the "most technically advanced travel trailer on the market". It was developed by a team of Apple, Tesla, Cruise, Zoox and Volvo tech-heads, with production at a new 60,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Fremont, California.

The optioned-up, first-release Pebble Flow Founders Edition is priced at US$175,000 (AUD$280,000), with other versions expected to roll out later this year including the entry-level, US$109,500 Standard model with 45kWh battery and Instacamp, and the US$135,500 Magic Pack edition that adds the dual-motor drivetrain.
