Terra Trek follows military theme

Another tough, Army-spec camper for remote travellers on its way
Outdoorsy types are spoilt for choice when it comes to hard-core off-road camper trailers in Australia, but now there’s another one on its way due for release later this year.
New South Australian company Terra Trek Australia is in final testing of a prototype of its new EXP camper, which with its stealth grey/black exterior follows a similar military-style theme to another new model, the similarly-named Bruder Expedition.
Terra Trek Australia owner Mark Reu has a background in designing and building expedition trailers and has worked for years as a guide through some of Australia’s most rugged regions.
Designed for remote camping and quick overnight stops, the Terra Trek EXP has a main body used mostly for storage with a custom-built roof-top tent for sleeping.

The 2.85m x 1.75m body is built from 3mm powdercoated aluminium panels and has eight gas-lift locker doors in total.

Priced from $41,000, it will come standard with a hot dip galvanised chassis, poly block coupling, 16in steel wheels and mud terrain tyres, 12in electric brakes, swing-away spare wheel carrier, custom swing axle coil/shock suspension, aluminium roof-rack, two 4.5kg gas bottles and full set of jacking and recovery points.
External cooking facilities include stainless steel benchtops and shelving, a sink with 12V tap, twin gas cooker and portable fridge, while it can carry up to 170 litres of water thanks to a 90 litre underslung stainless steel tank and four jerry cans.
The Terra Trek is 3.95m long overall and 1.7m high (without tent), and it will have a Tare weight of 920kg and 1800kg ATM.
There’s also a side awning for the kitchen, while the electrical system includes two 110Ah AGM batteries, a Redarc 1230 BMS management system and six LED lights.
According to the Terra Trek website, the EXP camper is “100 per cent Australian designed and manufactured using only the best materials and equipment available”.
The first production models are expected in November. Stay tuned…
