Registrations to enter this year’s Jeep Jamboree in Gippsland, Victoria have closed, but there are still opportunities to experience what could be the biggest gathering of Jeeps ever in Australia.
A spectator day pass is available for the weekend days (October 2-3) for $15 entry (or two adults and up to four children for $30), allowing observation of hundreds of Jeeps in action and on display at the biennial Jamboree.
The local event returns to Victoria for the first time since 2004 and embraces four days of Jeep-oriented activities, including all levels of off-road driving, a trade alley, children's activities and family events. Many participants will be camping or staying in caravans at powered sites at the rural venue.
The event's inspiration comes from the original Jeep Jamboree in the US, a trek across the Sierra Nevada Mountains that took in the old Rubicon trail and was created to kick along the economy in Georgetown, California. Today, more than 30 Jeep Jamborees are held annually in the US.
Organised by the Melbourne Jeep Owners Club, the 2010 Jamboree aims at being "the largest Jeep owner's event ever held in the Southern Hemisphere" with more than 500 vehicles of all ages and levels of modification and an expected attendance of more than 1000 visitors daily.
The National Jeep Jamboree will be held from Thursday September 30 through to Sunday October 3 at Lardner Park near Warragul, Victoria.
Spectator day passes are not available at the gate and must be purchased at www.jeepjamboree.com.au
