At a time many RV manufacturers are forced to tread wearily due to economic uncertainty, Queensland-based Talvor is displaying great confidence in the marketplace by substantially upgrading its range leading into 2012.
Unveiled to the media last month, Talvor’s new range includes four new caravan models and five new motorhomes, including a slide out variant for the first time.
Talvor has been a quiet achiever in recent years with its parent company, Apollo Motorhome Holidays, giving its retail arm the buying power needed to boost quality whilst maintaining costs.
A brief history of Apollo sheds light on what has to be one of the greater success stories in the local RV manufacturing industry. The company began in 1985 with a single vehicle that was rented out on weekends and used during the week as the proprietors’ daily transport.
After steady expansion the Talvor retail brand was launched in 2005, and Apollo now operates in the USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia with 500 staff and a fleet of 24,000 towable vehicles and 3000 drivable RVs.
The current range includes 15 campervans and four caravans, with another four caravans undergoing development.
Rather than revamp existing models for 2012, Talvor has introduced comprehensive changes across the range including new internal layouts, higher grade cabinetry and soft furnishings including options for leather upholstery. LED lighting has been revamped and in some models washing machines are an option.
Responding to feedback from customers, some models feature internal designs that specifically cater to the needs of the over-50s market including larger handles and large, easy opening drawers instead of cupboards. Access to the spare wheel and gas bottles has also been made more user-friendly.
The new motorhome range includes Ascot, Newstead and Hamilton fixed bed models, available with VW or Mercedes-Benz base vehicles in either B-class or C-class, and with or without sleeping accommodation above the driver’s seat.
Talvor says the low-profile, no overhead bed option will appeal to those who have height restrictions on undercover parking at home.
The Talvor Hayman slide out model is built on a Fiat Ducato and is an all-new design from the wheels up.
Talvor’s range starts at the Hippie Camper priced at $39,990 and extends to the Hayman at $148,990.
