The owners of a Victorian caravan park located along the picturesque Murray River have sunk $800,000 into a new multi-level aquatic play centre to entice more visitors, especially families with young kids.
BIG4 Swan Hill is the second BIG4 holiday park in Victoria, and the eighth in Australia, to install a big-bucks 'splash park', following the lead of the award-winning, resort-style BIG4 Cairns Coconut Holiday Resort in Queensland and BIG4 North Star Holiday Resortin NSW.
Aimed at pre-school as well as primary school children, the ‘no depth’ splash park at Swan Hill includes three water slides, an 8.5 metre, super splash tipping bucket, spray cannons, interactive ground sprays, and other play equipment.
The brightly-coloured complex also has protected toddlers’ areas outside of the range of spray cannons and a soft fall surface to prevent injuries.
BIG4 Swan Hill owner, Clare O’Bryan, is expecting to see at least a 20 per cent increase in booking numbers in return for the $800,000 investment. Overnight fees for a powered site at the four and a half star Swan Hill park, which doesn’t accept pets, range from $59 during the off-peak to $67 over the busy Christmas holiday period.
When the kids get tired of the splash park, BIG4 Swan Hill has other family-friendly facilities including a giant jumping pillow, playground, pool, games room, purpose-built bike track, beach volleyball court and go-kart hire.
“We're hoping to bring more visitors to Swan Hill and encourage them to stay longer to enjoy our new splash park and all our other fun, family-friendly facilities while they explore the region,” she said.
