One of Australia’s biggest RV manufacturers, Coromal Caravans has chosen surf lifesaving champ and Olympic athlete Ky Hurst as its first ever brand ambassador.
A member of the Surf Life Saving Australia Hall of Fame, with four Australian Ironman Titles and 10 Open Water Swim Titles, Hurst is considered one of the greatest surf swimmers Australia has ever seen.
The 33-year-old has competed at numerous FINA World Open Water Swimming Championships and represented Australia in the 10km Marathon Swim at the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympic Games.
As part of the deal, Hurst picked up a new Navigator camper trailer from Brisbane’s City Caravan Centre and didn’t waste time trying it out with partner Katie Lander and son Koa while competing recently at the Copeton Freshwater Swim event in NSW.
The lightweight Navigator is a good match for Hurst’s tow vehicle, a Subaru Outback with towing capacity up to 1.8 tonnes.
Subaru along with Coromal are named among six major sponsors on Hurst’s website.
Available in four floor plans, the cut-price Navigator camper was introduced mid-2013 and is priced up to $27,900. It generally comes equipped with queen and double size beds, convertible dinette and lounge seating as well as a kitchen with stove, fridge, and microwave, although Hurst’s Navigator has some extra 'dealer' accessories fitted including roof-top air-conditioner and solar panels.
Fulfilling 'official' duties the surf champ made an appearance at the Coromal stand at the 2014 Queensland Caravan & Camping Show, where Coromal also gave away one of its latest Atlas pop-tops valued at $44,000.
It’s at least the fourth Coromal to be offered as a prize recently by the West Australian manufacturer, which has been fighting back from a sales slump. A Navigator was given away at both the Perth Caravan Show earlier this year and the What’s Up DownUnder TV program in late-2013. Last year also saw a Coromal F616 caravan given away as the major prize in a Caravan World magazine promotion.
Coromal Caravans' National Sales and Marketing Manager, Paul Sparke said Hurst was “an ideal brand ambassador for Coromal Caravans”.
"His huge success in the water and service to the community over many years reflects his passion for a healthy, outdoor lifestyle and Coromal Caravans is proud to be associated with him through this exciting new partnership,” he said.
