Melbourne caravan manufacturer Supreme will celebrate three decades in the business with a big, invitation-only party at the company’s Craigieburn headquarters in early September.
Brothers Frank and Karl Prosenik started by selling used caravans before building the first Supreme caravan in a backyard shed in Sydney Rd, Fawkner, in the early 1990s.
After dabbling in pop-tops, slide-on campers, camper trailers and the odd custom van over the years, the Melbourne manufacturer now focuses on a six-model range of traditional-built, fixed-roof touring, rough road and slide-out models.
According to Supreme, the company manufactures around 1000 caravans annually and employs 170 people. It also builds vans under the Leader Caravans brand.
"Thirty years in manufacturing is not always easy, in fact it is getting harder and harder in Australia, but Supreme Caravans is getting stronger and stronger," Supreme’s managing director Karl Prosenik said.
As well as bringing together staff, industry figures, sporting personalities and politicians for a night of awards and entertainment, the celebration will include the unveiling of a special '30th anniversary' model, of which only 30 will be built.
Supreme will also mark the occasion with a four day sale from September 1-4 that will include “huge savings on stock and second hand units”.
