There's a new forward-thinking RV brand on the block, with California start-up AC Future providing a glimpse of its upcoming off-grid motorhome at the 2024 CES show in Las Vegas in early January.
The new Electric Transformer House (ETH) four berth motorhome is a collaboration between luxury auto brand Pininfarina and US-based architects A&C Future, and like some other US RV start-ups of late is designed to move the humble RV well into the 21st century.
The eTH motorhome concept, which show-goers could view via a virtual reality headset, is a 20ft motorhome with twin expandable walls to deliver an extra large, open plan interior living, eating and sleeping space.
There's also an expandable solar panel roof, capable of generating over 25kWh to enable off-the-grid living for up to seven days, along with an Atmospheric Water Generator that will convert moisture from the air into 50 litres of clean water daily.
Starlink connectivity and self-driving features are other headline features.
The AC Future RV also changes the game insofar as motorhomes only being used for holidays, with the eTH also functioning as a self-contained apartment that can reside next to a fixed house, or work as a mobile office.
Also contributing to its versatility is collapsible and modular furniture, along with sleek furnishings, wooden flooring, floor to ceiling glass doors and a fully-equipped kitchen that should help justify its premium price-tag.
"It is not just about designing a living space; it’s about re-imagining the way people experience off-grid living," AC Future said.
The California start-up is planning to build a number of prototypes before rolling out a production version around late-2025. There also plans to build AC Trailer caravan and AC House tiny home versions.
